Pune: Kondhwa Residents Suffer Due To Contaminated And Irregular Water Supply; MNS Demands Urgent Action
Pune, September 23, 2025: Residents of Ajmera Park, Green Park, Royal Park, and Ashraf Nagar in Kondhwa have been struggling for years with an acute water supply problem. Citizens allege that the water reaching their homes is not only supplied at very low pressure but is also contaminated with drainage water, posing a severe health risk to families, especially children, women, and senior citizens.
Raising the issue, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Pune City President Sainath Sambhaji Babar has criticized the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for neglecting this long-standing problem despite repeated complaints and petitions by residents.

Babar pointed out that while the civic body actively pursues property tax and other levies, it has failed to ensure the most basic necessity — clean and adequate drinking water. “This is blatant injustice towards citizens. Water is a fundamental right, and it is shameful that in 2025, people in a city like Pune are forced to suffer due to contaminated and insufficient water supply,” he said.
The MNS has demanded immediate corrective measures, including:
- Urgent inspection and repair of the water supply lines in the affected areas.
- Permanent resolution of drainage water contamination in the supply.
- Ensuring regular water supply with adequate pressure.
- Announcing a fixed timeline for these corrective works and keeping citizens informed.
Warning the civic body, Babar stated that if PMC fails to act swiftly, MNS along with residents will launch a strong agitation, and the responsibility for any law-and-order situation will lie with the administration.
“Citizens’ patience is wearing thin. If PMC can show urgency in tax collection, the same urgency must be shown in addressing basic civic issues like water supply,” Babar added.
