Pune Leads in National Lok Adalat: 1.38 Lakh Cases Resolved, ₹577 Crore Recovered

Pune Gears Up For Mega Lok Adalat On May 10: Over 1.08 Lakh Cases To Be Settled Across 135 Panels

Pune, March 23: Under the guidance of Principal District and Sessions Judge Mahendra Mahajan, who also serves as the Chairman of the Pune District Legal Services Authority, a National Lok Adalat was held in Pune district on March 22. A total of 1,38,825 cases were resolved, including 1,255 pre-litigation cases and 38,570 settlement cases.

The cases settled in the Lok Adalat include:

  • Bank Loan Recovery: 8,819 cases
  • Compoundable Criminal Cases: 31,537 cases
  • Electricity Bill Disputes: 329 cases
  • Labor Disputes: 18 cases
  • Land Acquisition Cases: 111 cases
  • Motor Accident Claims Tribunal Cases: 163 cases
  • Matrimonial Disputes: 74 cases
  • Negotiable Instruments Act Cases: 1,994 cases
  • Other Civil Cases: 514 cases
  • Other Cases: 2,673 cases
  • Revenue Cases: 7,731 cases
  • Water Tax Disputes: 84,860 cases
  • Consumer Disputes: 2 cases

From 97,644 pending cases taken up for settlement, 38,570 cases were resolved, resulting in a recovery of ₹320.68 crore in settlement fees. Additionally, out of 2,42,987 pre-litigation claims, 1,255 cases were resolved, recovering ₹256.70 crore in settlement fees. In total, ₹577.39 crore was recovered from 1,38,825 resolved cases.
