Pune, 6 August 2024: Residents of Lohegaon have staged a protest outside the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) building, led by Sunil alias Master Khandve. The protest, which includes a hunger strike, is aimed at drawing attention to a range of unresolved issues in the area. Lohegaon, situated on the eastern border of PMC jurisdiction, has been facing numerous problems since becoming part of the PMC in 2017.

The residents have compiled a 23-point list of issues they claim are being ignored by the PMC. These concerns include irregular water and electricity supply, poor road conditions, and inadequate infrastructure. To address these problems, Sunil Khandve and fellow protesters have initiated the hunger strike outside the PMC.

  • 10. Construction of a 30-meter road from Lohegaon-Dhanori Jakat Naka to 509 DP
  • 11. Creation of a 10-meter bypass road near Khandve Nagar near Pune Airport boundaries
  • 12. Construction of a road from in front of Ajeenkya DY Patil School of Engineering under Lohgaon limits to Ahmednagar Road
  • 13. Construction of a 10-meter road near the Gurudwara walls
  • 14. Development of a 24-meter DP road from Dhanori Gaonthan to the crematorium
  • 15. Construction of a road from Dhanori Survey No. 4, Hotel New Mehfil Family Restaurant to Porwal Road
  • 16. Development of a 30-meter road from Dhanori Jakat Naka to Ajeenkya DY Patil School of Engineering gate
  • 17. Completion of roadworks near Tingre Empire
  • 18. Connecting water tanks in Harantale, Lohegaon, and BU Bhandari in Dhanori to the Lohegaon water line to address water problems
  • 19. Installation of 2 lakh-litre water tanks in parts of Lohgaon
  • 20. Government hospitals in Lohegaon lack doctors and facilities
  • 21. Installation of street lights in all areas of Lohegaon
  • 22. Implementation of the DP Plan for Lohegaon and the other 10 newly included villages as soon as possible
  • 23. Shortage of teachers at Pune Zilla Parishad School in Lohegaon

Khandve and other residents of the Lohegaon-Dhanori area have called on the PMC administration to address these issues. The strike has garnered significant attention, with the community eager to see how the PMC will respond.
