Pune: Lunkad Amazon Housing Society In Viman Nagar Commissions 50KW Rooftop Solar Project
Pune, October 3, 2025: In a significant stride towards sustainability, Lunkad Amazon Housing Society in Viman Nagar has successfully commissioned a 50KW grid-connected rooftop solar project. The initiative was officially inaugurated in the presence of former corporator Mukta Jagtap, alongside the society’s managing committee members and enthusiastic residents.
Installed on the society’s rooftop, the solar project is designed to generate a large share of the electricity required for its daily operations. The power produced will be used to run essential amenities including water pumps, seven elevators, the clubhouse, and common area lighting. This transition is expected to bring long-term financial relief to the residents by substantially lowering monthly maintenance costs.
Equally important are the environmental benefits of the project. The 50KW installation is projected to offset between 45 and 55 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions every year—an impact comparable to planting around 2,400 mature trees. The society’s residents see this as a meaningful step in reducing their carbon footprint while contributing positively to Pune’s environmental sustainability efforts.
Speaking on the occasion, society chairman Srinivasan said, “This 50KW project is a testament to our community’s commitment to a cleaner, greener future. It’s a win-win: we are reducing our expenses while making a direct contribution to combating climate change. We hope this inspires other housing societies in the region to adopt similar initiatives.”
The project was completed in just 16 weeks, highlighting both efficiency and dedication to green energy solutions.
