Pune: Maha-Metro Shortlists Two Firms for Kondhwa–Shivajinagar Metro DPR Preparation
Pune, October 12, 2025: The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) has shortlisted two consultancy agencies to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed 20-km Kondhwa–Shivajinagar Metro route.
According to Maha-Metro officials, the DPR will be financed by the Government of India, and the proposal has been forwarded for necessary approvals. Once the final agency is selected, the report is expected to be completed within three to four months.
An official stated, “We received three tenders for this project and shortlisted two firms. The work will commence soon after the approval is granted. The DPR preparation cost will be covered by the Union government.”
The upcoming metro line is anticipated to significantly improve public transport connectivity for areas such as NIBM, Yewalewadi, and Kondhwa. It will function as an extension of the existing Shivajinagar–Hinjawadi Metro corridor, which is being developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) in collaboration with Tata.
Once completed, the DPR will be submitted to the state government for review before being forwarded to the central government for final approval.
