Pune: Mahavitaran Approves New High-Voltage Substations in Bavdhan And Lavale, 160,000 Consumers To Benefit
Pune, August 1, 2024: To meet the rising demand for electricity and reduce the load on the existing power infrastructure, Mahavitaran has recently approved the construction of a proposed 132/22 kV substation at Lavle (Mulshi Taluka) and a 220/22 kV high-voltage substation at Bavdhan in Pune. These substations will provide improved quality power supply to the areas of Bavdhan, Kothrud, Warje, Bhukum, Bhugaon, Pirangut, Lavale, and Nande.
Considering the increasing power demand in the Pune division and future power supply needs, Chief Engineer Rajendra Pawar has submitted a proposal for 21 high-voltage substations to the headquarters, which has received a positive response. In the past 18 months, Mahavitaran’s Chairman and Managing Director Lokesh Chandra has approved the construction of several high-voltage substations, including the 220/33/22 kV Pride World City in Chinchwad, 220/22 kV Safari Park in Moshi, 220/22 kV Yashada in Tathawade, 220/22 kV Bavdhan, and 132/22 kV Knowledge City in Lavale. Approval has also been given for two new 50 MVA power transformers at the 220/22 kV Century Enka substation in Bhosari. All these approved proposals have been forwarded to Mahapareshan for implementation. The construction of new high-voltage substations and capacity expansion will be carried out by Mahaparsharan.
The new 220 kV high-voltage substation at Bavdhan will reduce the load on Mahapareshan’s NCL 132/22/11, Nanded City 220/22 kV, and 132/22/11 kV substations. With 10 power lines from the new Bavdhan substation, quality and stable power supply will be provided to 95,000 consumers in Bavdhan, Chandani Chowk, Kothrud, and Warje. Additionally, the approved 132/22 kV high-voltage substation at Knowledge City will supply electricity to Bhukum, Bhugaon, Pirangut, Lavale, Nande, and Knowledge City areas through 15 power lines, directly benefiting approximately 65,000 consumers. Furthermore, 4 out of 18 power lines at the Pirangut 220/22 kV high-voltage substation will be redirected to the Knowledge City substation, reducing the current load at the Pirangut substation. This will lead to more stable and high-quality power supply for residential, commercial, and industrial consumers served by the remaining power lines.
Rajendra Pawar, Chief Engineer, Pune Division: “In response to the increasing power demand in the Pune division, proposals are being made to expand and enhance the capacity of the distribution and transmission power systems. The high-voltage substations at Bavdhan and Lavle will provide reliable and high-quality power supply to approximately 160,000 consumers across all categories.”
