Pune Man Fined ₹10,000 for Harassing Women in Housing Society

A resident of a high-end society in Kolwadi, Pune, was fined ₹10,000 and ordered to pay ₹5,000 as compensation for harassing women by the District and Sessions Court at Shivajinagar. The accused, Siddheshwar Biradar (30), was found guilty of making obscene remarks, disturbing women over the phone, and behaving inappropriately on the society premises. 

Women from the society lodged a complaint at Lonikand police station, alleging that Biradar would stand in his balcony in his underwear, stare at women, and pass lewd comments. Taking the matter seriously, the police conducted a swift investigation. Within 24 hours, they completed the probe and filed charges in the Shivajinagar court on March 25. 

During the hearing, the complainant and witnesses testified in court. Biradar admitted to his crime. The court sentenced him within 24 hours, imposing a fine of ₹10,000 and ordering him to pay ₹5,000 to the complainant. Additionally, he was instructed to remain in court until its session ended. If he fails to pay the fine, he will have to serve an 11-day simple imprisonment.

The case was investigated under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Himmat Jadhav, Assistant Commissioner of Police Pranjali Sonawane, and Senior Inspector Sarjerao Kumbhar from Lonikand police station. Woman Assistant Inspector Vijaya Pandit Wanjari led the investigation, with constables Ashish Lohar and Vitthal Kedari assisting.
