In a bold theft carried out in broad daylight, a man posing as a customer stole a gold chain worth ₹2.6 lakh from the Tanishq Jewelers showroom in Shivajinagar on Jangli Maharaj road on the morning of Saturday, April 3.

The complaint, filed by Gayatri Chetan Chavan (25), a store employee and resident of Ravetgaon, states that the incident occurred around 11:30 AM. A man, believed to be between 25 and 30 years old, entered the showroom pretending to be interested in buying a gold chain.

After selecting a chain, he asked the employee to fetch a matching pendant from another counter. The moment she turned her back, the accused quickly fled with the gold chain, valued at ₹2.6 lakh.

The Shivajinagar Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter under the guidance of PSI Bade. CCTV footage is being reviewed to identify and track down the thief.
