Pune, July 10, 2025: Acting on repeated complaints from citizens about inconvenience caused by encroachments at Sarasbaug Chowpatty, the Pune Municipal Commissioner has directed intensified action to remove unauthorized structures.

Following these orders, the Encroachment Removal Department (Anti Encroachment cell) under the Assistant Municipal Commissioner of Kasba Peth Vishrambaugwada Regional Office carried out a large-scale anti-encroachment drive at Sarasbaug Chowpatty today. Unauthorized structures outside authorized stalls were demolished during the operation.

The drive was conducted under the guidance of Sandeep Khalate, Deputy Commissioner, Encroachment Removal Department, and Sunil Ballal, Deputy Commissioner of Zone 5, with supervision by the Assistant Municipal Commissioner of Kasba Vishrambaugwada.

Divisional Encroachment Officer Umesh Narule from Zones 3 and 5 led the action along with his full staff, including Regional Encroachment Inspector Shrikrishna Sonar and Assistant Encroachment Inspectors  Rajesh Khude, Bhimaji Shinde, and  Shashikant Tak from Zone 3.

In total, sheds belonging to 54 stall owners were removed. Additionally, 7 truckloads of tables, chairs, counters, and other material were seized.

The operation involved 5 police personnel from the Municipal Corporation’s Encroachment Department, 20 Maharashtra Security Force jawans, 3 JCB machines, 1 gas cutter, and laborers from Zones 3 and 5.

Officials have stated that such large-scale anti-encroachment actions will continue in the coming days.
