Pune, July 8, 2025: Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro), Pune, successfully hosted the 2nd I-Metro Human Resources (HR) Working Group Conference on July 3 and 4, 2025, at Crowne Plaza, Bund Garden Road, Pune. 

This two-day national-level forum brought together HR professionals and leadership from prominent metro rail organisations across India to have meaningful discussions and understand the contemporary HR challenges and solutions within the urban transit sector.

The two-day event was inaugurated by MD Maha Metro Shravan Hardikar and commenced with the registration and welcome of dignitaries, followed by the inaugural session. Capt. Dr. Rajendra Saner Patil, General Manager (HR), Pune Metro, delivered the welcome address, setting the context for the gathering. Shri Rajneesh Pandey, General Manager (HR Project), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), offered introductory remarks in his capacity as a key member of the working group. The formal inauguration was marked by an address from Shravan Hardikar, Managing Director, Maha Metro, who acknowledged the relevance of such collaborative platforms in building robust HR frameworks for the metro sector and emphasized the importance of strengthening peer networks and knowledge exchange within the HR community.

The core of the meeting comprised thematic group presentations delivered by different metro organisations, focusing on critical HR domains such as recruitment modes, promotion policies, performance management systems, perks and allowances, and training and development strategies. These sessions were thoughtfully curated to ensure a broad and in-depth understanding of the operational HR best practices adopted across various metros. Discussions were led by senior officials from Pune Metro, Delhi Metro, Jaipur Metro, Bangalore Metro, Kochi Metro, Noida Metro, Chennai Metro, Mumbai Metro, Gujarat Metro, Uttar Pradesh Metro, Kolkata Metro, and Madhya Pradesh Metro, among others. Notable participants included directors, general managers, and deputy general managers who are actively involved in HR strategy and execution within their respective organizations. The conference was attended by several high-ranking HR officials from metro systems across India.

Apart from knowledge sharing, the meeting served as a platform to deliberate on unified HR benchmarks, encourage inter-metro collaboration, and identify actionable points that could shape future workforce development in the sector. A field visit was also organized to Pune Metro’s District Court Interchange and Swargate stations to showcase Pune Metro’s infrastructure and operational efficiency, further enriching the learning experience for all attendees.

The event concluded with an open discussion and finalization of action points, reaffirming the commitment of I-Metro’s HR Working Group to build a people-centric, high-performance work culture across the nation’s metro systems. Through such focused initiatives, Pune Metro continues to play a leadership role in advancing professional development and institutional synergy within India’s metro ecosystem.
