Pune, August 12, 2025: With Ganeshotsav just days away, Pune Metro has announced a special travel plan for commuters and devotees. To make travel across the city easier during the festive season, a ₹100 daily pass will soon be introduced, allowing passengers to travel unlimited times in a single day on Pune Metro routes. The initiative aims to reduce traffic congestion and parking issues that typically trouble visitors during the festival, especially those travelling to witness Ganpati processions across the city.

The pass will be valid for unlimited journeys on any metro station between the two operational routes – Pimpri-Chinchwad to Swargate and Vanaz to Ramwadi. Commuters will be able to board and alight at any station, as many times as they wish, throughout the day. While the official start date for the service has not yet been announced, Pune Metro officials believe it will help shoppers and devotees save time and enjoy a more convenient travel experience.

This move is expected to benefit both passengers and Pune Metro. Thousands of commuters use the service daily, and with the introduction of the ₹100 daily pass, ridership is likely to see a significant boost, especially during the festive period when shopping and temple visits peak. The metro authority also hopes that the scheme will encourage more citizens to choose public transport over private vehicles, thereby easing road congestion.

In addition to improving convenience, the pass is expected to contribute to reducing pollution levels in the city. Authorities highlight that Pune Metro offers a safe, comfortable, and fast alternative to road travel, making it an ideal choice during high-traffic festival days. The scheme is being welcomed as a timely and practical solution to Pune’s festive season traffic woes.
