Pune Metro Operations Halted For 21 Minutes Due to Technical Snag

Pune Metro Commuters To Get Insurance for Ticket Prices
Pune Metro services, on the Vanaz to Ruby Hall route, were halted for 21 minutes on Tuesday evening (3rd October) because of a technical issue.
Speaking to Pune Pulse, Dr Hemant Sonawane, Executive Director Public Relations And Administration, Pune Metro, said “It is called Birdfall as, on Tuesday evening (3rd October), a bird collided with an overhead cable of the Metro train from Vanaz to Ruby Hall route. When the overhead cable comes into contact with the birds, it causes the power supply to shut down. The team tracked down the point where the bird hit the overhead cable. The power supply was then re-established. The Metro service was restored in approximately 21 minutes. Only one line of the Vanaz-Ruby Hall route was affected due to this.”
As per further information, On the way to Vanaz, the Metro stopped at Nal Stop. The train doors were left open for longer than normal. After a few minutes, passengers were met with announcements apologizing for the delay.
While waiting, they were informed that it was a technical issue and would take between 5 minutes and 1 hour to resolve. After a couple of minutes, they were asked to change platforms and that another Metro would pick them up and drop them off at Vanaz.
After Pune Metro technicians sorted out the technical issue, the passengers who were waiting at the other platform hurried back to that platform and waited for a train to come.
This is the second time within almost 2 months that metro operations were halted at Vanaz-Ruby Hall route as, on August 14, Metro service on the same route was suspended for 20 minutes because of a power outage.
