Pune, September 8 2025: Pune Metro witnessed unprecedented passenger traffic during this year’s Ganesh festival, ferrying over 1.32 million commuters between September 4 and 6 and generating ₹19.44 crore in revenue.

On Anant Chaturdashi (September 6) alone, the metro carried 590,944 passengers, marking its highest-ever single-day ridership. To handle the festival rush, metro services operated nonstop for 41 hours, from September 5 till 11 pm on September 6. By comparison, last year’s Anant Chaturdashi (September 17, 2024) saw 346,633 riders, with trains extended for 24 hours.

Among stations, Mandai metro station, located in the core festival zone, reported the highest footfall with 169,272 passengers across three days. Close behind were PCMC station with more than 1.25 lakh commuters and Shivajinagar station, which saw over 1.08 lakh riders. Dapodi, Ramwadi, Civil Court, Vanaz and Swargate stations also handled heavy rush due to their proximity to immersion routes, while outer stations like Bhosari Phata, Khadki, MG Road and Phugewadi reported lower footfall.
