Pune, March 1, 2025 – Pune Metro continues to witness a surge in ridership, with a total of 43,07,187 commuters using the metro services in February 2025. The steady growth in metro usage highlights its increasing role in the city’s public transport system.
According to official data, the metro has seen sustained ridership momentum since the beginning of the year. On January 1, 2025, Pune Metro recorded its highest single-day ridership, with over 2.04 lakh commuters traveling on New Year’s Day. The Purple Line (Pimpri-Chinchwad to Swargate) saw 1,02,738 passengers, while 1,02,175 commuters traveled on the Aqua Line (Ramwadi to Vanaz).
The metro’s growing popularity reflects Pune’s shift towards efficient and reliable public transport. In 2024, the metro saw a total ridership of 4.57 crore, with October being the busiest month at 48.19 lakh commuters, followed by 46.21 lakh in September. Revenue figures also mirrored this trend, with Pune Metro generating ₹276.58 crore in 2024, with October contributing the highest earnings of ₹7.52 crore, followed by ₹7.07 crore in September.
With the city’s continued expansion and rising commuter demand, Pune Metro is set to play a crucial role in urban mobility. The consistent increase in ridership underlines its growing acceptance as a preferred mode of transport for Punekars.
