Pune Metro Sees Record Ridership On New Year’s Day, Over 2 Lakh Commuters Travelled On January 1

Pune Metro kicked off 2025 with a bang, recording its highest single-day ridership on January 1, with over 2.04 lakh commuters traveling on the metro. According to data shared by Pune Metro, 1,02,738 commuters traveled on the Purple Line (Pimpri-Chinchwad to Swargate), while 1,02,175 commuters used the Aqua Line (Ramwadi to Vanaz).
This milestone marks a significant increase in ridership for Pune Metro, which has been gaining popularity since its launch. In 2024, the metro recorded a total ridership of 4.57 crore, with October seeing the highest ridership of 48.19 lakh passengers, followed by 46.21 lakh in September.
The revenue generated by Pune Metro in 2024 was ₹276.58 crore, with October being the highest-earning month at ₹7.52 crore, followed by ₹7.07 crore in September. The monthly ridership and revenue data for Pune Metro in 2024 shows a steady increase in both numbers, indicating the growing reliance of Punekars on the metro for their daily commute.
