Pune: Mobile Phone Usage Banned For Contractual Employees During Office Hours At PMRDA
Pune/Pimpri, November 21: To address disruptions in work due to excessive mobile phone use during office hours, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has enforced a ban on mobile usage by contract employees during designated office timings. The directive, applicable to manpower hired through external agencies, is already being implemented by the respective contracting agencies.
PMRDA has an approved staffing structure of 407 positions, but a significant number of these posts, including deputations and permanent roles, remain vacant. Until these positions are filled through the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) or district selection committees, PMRDA has hired contractual manpower through external agencies.
However, the authority observed that mobile usage by contract staff during office hours was hindering work efficiency and causing disruptions. To maintain confidentiality and uphold workplace discipline, the ban has been implemented. Contracting agencies are ensuring strict compliance with this directive.
This decision aims to ensure that employees remain fully engaged with their duties, contributing to smoother and more efficient office operations.
