Pune: Movie Night Turns Violent As Techie And Wife Attacked For Asking Couple To Keep Quiet
Pune, September 9, 2025: A night at the movies turned into a real-life horror for a Chinchwad-based techie and his wife when they were allegedly attacked by a couple during a screening of *The Conjuring: Last Rites* at a multiplex on Friday.
According to police, the 29-year-old software engineer from Bijlinagar had asked a man seated behind him to stop narrating the film’s plot aloud to his wife. What began as a polite request soon spiraled into abuse and violence during the interval. The accused and his wife, residents of Vallabhnagar in Pimpri, allegedly assaulted the techie, his wife, and even his sister who was accompanying them.
In his complaint, the victim stated that the accused grabbed him by the collar, dragged him, and repeatedly kicked and punched him on the face, stomach, and hands. When his wife tried to intervene, the couple allegedly beat and abused her as well. Both victims sustained injuries and received treatment at a nearby hospital before approaching the Chinchwad police on Sunday.
A case has been registered against the Vallabhnagar couple under sections 117 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 115 (causing hurt), and 352 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The accused are currently absconding, and police have launched a search to trace them.
The police is further investigating in the case.
