Pune: Mumbai-Solapur Vande Bharat Halted After Wheel Overheats; Deccan Queen Takes Over

Low Passenger Response for Pune–Nagpur Vande Bharat Express Due to High Fares
Pune, July 19, 2025: The wheel of the Mumbai-Solapur Vande Bharat Express overheated near Bor Ghat on Friday evening, triggering a safety alert. The Hot Axle Box Detector (HABD) sensor sent a warning of dangerously high temperatures.
Acting promptly, the loco pilot slowed down the train and brought it safely to Pune station.
For the safety of passengers, the journey of the Vande Bharat Express was halted, and passengers were shifted to the Deccan Queen, which then departed towards Solapur. This swift action prevented a potential accident, according to officials.
This marks the first such incident reported on Central Railway. Normally, the wheels of a train operate at a temperature of 40°C to 60°C. If the temperature crosses 85°C, the HABD system issues an alert. In this case, the wheel temperature had reached nearly 100°C, prompting the railway authorities to stop the train and arrange alternate transport.
The Deccan Queen departed Pune station at 7:14 PM and reached Solapur around midnight.
