Pune, February 7, 2025: Pune Municipal Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale has directed immediate legal acquisition and action for the four delayed DP roads in Dhayari and Sinhagad areas. The decision comes after an all-party hunger strike on Republic Day (January 26) protesting the inaction.

A meeting was held with municipal officials and all-party representatives, where Commissioner Bhosale assured that stalled DP roadworks would be expedited, according to AAP Pune city president Dhananjay Benkar.

For 28 years, these DP roads have remained incomplete, leading to severe traffic congestion in Dhayari and surrounding areas. Despite crores being allocated, key roads—including Sinhagad Road to Dhayari Savitri Garden, Kakasaheb Chavan Bungalow to Narhe, Benkar Vasti to Narhe, and Pari Company to Laxmi Lodge—exist only on paper.

Earlier protests, including a hunger strike at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan, even gained attention from President Droupadi Murmu, who directed the state chief secretary to act. However, continued administrative delays forced citizens to escalate their agitation.

Local leaders and residents, including Rupali Chakanakar, Rahul Pokale, Sunny Raikar, and others, were present at the recent protest.
