Pune Municipal Corporation Properties To Be Transferred To Newly Formed Uruli Devachi And Phursungi CouncilÂ
Pune, March 1, 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has approved a proposal to transfer government-owned properties in Uruli Devachi and Fursungi to the newly established Nagar Parishad, following a directive from the state government. However, properties owned by the PMC will remain under its jurisdiction.
Background and Decision
Uruli Devachi and Fursungi were included within PMC limits in 2017. Since then, the municipal corporation has been responsible for providing civic amenities to these areas. Previously, the villages were under the jurisdiction of the Zilla Parishad, and their properties came under PMC’s control after the merger.
Ahead of the state assembly elections, the government issued an order on September 11, 2024, forming a separate Nagar Parishad for these villages. Since immediate implementation was not feasible, a committee led by the Divisional Commissioner was appointed to develop a roadmap for their transition. As per the committee’s plan, facilities will be transferred in a phased manner over the next six months.
Phased Transfer of Properties
The Nagar Parishad administration had requested the transfer of civic amenity spaces. Following this, PMC compiled data on 116 properties previously under Gram Panchayat ownership and 13 reserved plots. Some of these locations have already been developed into civic centers by PMC.
The Standing Committee has approved a three-phase transfer plan:
- Phase 1:Â Immediate transfer of properties acquired when the villages were merged with PMC.
- Phase 2:Â Handover of land reserved for civic services and roads.
- Phase 3: Transfer of properties currently housing PMC’s civic service centers to the Nagar Parishad administration.
The phased transition ensures an organized shift of governance, allowing the newly formed Nagar Parishad to manage local development effectively.
