Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) recently released tenders for the initial phase of establishing 86 e-charging stations out of the total 500 locations planned across the city.
As of now, 15 e-charging stations have already been installed at strategic positions. This comes after PMC’s announcement in December 2022 regarding the establishment of e-charging stations throughout Pune.
As per the information provided, the PMC electrical department has installed e-charging stations at 15 different locations, such as Savarkar Bhavan, Ganesh Kala and Sports Centre, Bibwewadi ward office, P L Deshpande Udyan, Ghole Road ward office, Tilak Road ward office, Peshwa Park, Gultekdi Parking, Navloba Parking, and the PMC main building. Each of these stations is equipped with charging points for two two-wheelers and one four-wheeler.
As per the information received, to utilize the e-charging facility, citizens are required to make online payments. Additionally, both fast charging and slow charging options are available for the convenience of the users.
Furthermore, it has been decided that e-cars will be purchased for PMC officials and office-bearers, and the implementation of this plan has already begun. In the initial phase, the tender process for 86 e-charging stations has been successfully completed.
Each charging station will be equipped with two charging points. Currently, charging stations have been installed at various locations such as PMC’s parking lots, gardens, ward offices, auditoriums, and theatres. As time progresses, the number of charging stations in the city will be gradually increased based on the availability of suitable locations.
