Pune: NCP Appoints Two City Chiefs Ahead Of Civic Polls
Pune: In a strategic organisational reshuffle ahead of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) elections, the Ajit Pawar-led faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has appointed two separate city presidents and four vice-presidents for Pune, aiming to strengthen its grassroots network.
Former MLA Sunil Tingre has been named the city president for East Pune, which includes Kasba Peth, Pune Cantonment, Hadapsar, and Wadgaonsheri assembly constituencies. Rupali Thombre and Haji Firoz Shaikh have been appointed as vice-presidents for this region.
For West Pune, former leader of the house Subhash Jagtap will serve as city president. His area covers Khadakwasla, Kothrud, Shivajinagar, and Parvati constituencies. Pradeep Deshmukh has been retained as vice-president, while Akrur Kudale has been appointed as the second vice-president.
The appointments were officially announced by MLA Chetan Tupe at a press conference on Saturday, with appointment letters handed over by NCP state president Sunil Tatkare.
Party insiders said the restructuring, guided by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, is part of a focused strategy to empower experienced and locally trusted leaders at the ward and assembly levels in preparation for the civic elections.
