Pune: Neco Sky Park Society Kids Win 6 Medals In 5th Maharashtra State Finswimming Championship 2025
Pune, August 19, 2025: On 17th April, 5th Maharashtra Finswimming Championship 2025 was organized at Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Mahalunge-Balewadi, Pune. This swimming competition was organized by Underwater Sports Association of Maharashtra (USAM) affiliated by the Underwater Sports Federation of India.Â
More than 200 Finswimmers from All over Maharashtra took part in this Competition. The Finswimmers ranged in age from 7 years to 80 years. They were divided into 11 different age groups, and a total of 122 events for Men, Women, Boys and Girls were held.
The Championship was inaugurated by Suyash Jadhav, Arjun Awardee Paraswimmer and Dr Tapan Panigrahi, Lifetime Dronacharya Awardee Swim Coach. Before the competition began the organizers and participants took an oath of sportsmanship, and the competition commenced at 8.00 AM as per schedule.
Despite the rains, the enthusiasm of the participants energized the spectators. All events concluded by 4.00 PM. The top three winners in each competition were awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals, respectively.
Three generations from the Joshi family, Subhas Joshi age 78 years, his Son Ajay Joshi age 45 years and Grand daughterNiharika Joshi age 14 Years participated and successfully finished their events with 2 Silver Medals.
The Maharashtra Finswimming Championship gained special prestige due to the presence of prominent personalities from the swimming community. Key attendees included Mr Rajendra Palkar, Honorable Secretary of MSAAA, Dr Tapan Panigrahi (recipient of the Life time Dronacharya Award), and Suyash Jadhav (Paralympian swimmer, recipient of the Arjuna Award and the Shiv Chhatrapati Award).
Ten swimmers from Water’s Edge and Neco Skypark Society, Vishalnagar, Pune, participated in the competition and won 4 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medals.
These kids from Neco Sky Park Society have won 10 medals in Maharashtra State level Swimming Competition held in the month of April under the coaching of Shirish A Patki.
For this Finswimming competition also practice sessions were taken by their Swimming Coach Shirish Patki, who is an Oceanman, ASCA Certified Swimming Coach and resident of Neco Sky Park Society.
