Pune, March 11, 2025: A case has been registered against 18 parents for allegedly submitting forged residential documents to secure school admissions for their children under the Right to Education (RTE) quota. The incident reportedly took place between January and October 2024 in Matalwadi, Bhugaon.
According to the Bavdhan police, the parents provided false address proofs to claim eligibility for the 25% reserved seats in private schools meant for underprivileged students under the RTE Act. The matter came to light after an investigation by the education department, following which a complaint was lodged by Sujata Deshmukh, Gat Shikshan Adhikari, Panchayat Samiti Mulshi.
The Bavdhan Police Station has booked the accused under Sections 318(4), 336(3), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway to determine the extent of the fraud and any additional individuals involved.
