Anandam Association is a social cultural organisation in East Pune, bringing together Bengalis of Wanowari, Salunke Vihar Road, NIBM Road, Fatima Nagar, right up to Undri and further. The members are mostly Bengalis and people close to the Bengali culture.
This is the 20th year of Shri Shri Durga Puja Celebrations. The club also celebrates Laxmi Puja which falls on Kojagiri Purnima day, Kali Puja, during Diwali and Saraswati Puja during Basant (spring).
Like the last 2 years, this year too, Anandam Association will be celebrating Durga Puja at Alankaran Lawns, near SRPF grounds in Wanowrie between 8th and 13th October, 2024.
The President of the Association, Amitava Saha said, ‘There will be bhog on all 3 days. And it will be the favourite bhog menu of Khichudi, labda, bhaja, chatni and payesh. Mrs. Rina Pradhan General Secretary said, ‘We are all looking forward to the celebrations and there will be a gastronomical delight for all with the different food stalls that will be put up.
We are beginning the celebrations on 8th October – Panchami – with ANANDOMELA – A fete where the members make the most delectable Bengali food items and, it is open for sale to all. Right from the famous Gol Barir Kosha Mangsho (a special mutton curry), to Prawn Malai Curry, Payesh, Goja, Luchi-torkari. Koraishutir Kochuri, Macher Chop, you name it, and you will find mouthwatering delicacies here on 8th October, 8.00 pm onwards.
The evening will also have a karaoke singing programme open to all members.
The cultural events begin from Mahashoshti – 9th October, with the member’s group song, followed by 2 in-house productions. A children’s show – a tribute to the great Film maker and creative genius Satyajit Ray – Horek Raja’r Deshe. Children from the Anandam family will enact a few scenes from his famous movies, viz. Goopi Gaain, Bagha Baain, Kirok Rajer Deshe, etc. This will be followed by the staging of a one act comedy play – Shohomormi.
Mahashaptami – 10th October, is studded with 2 other in-house productions. A dance drama adaptation of Kalidas’ Shakuntala, woven with songs from various Bengali poets like Kazi Nazrul Islam, Rabindranath Tagore and Atul Prasad and recitation. The second programme will be a tribute to Kishore Kumar on his 95th year of birth. Anandam members have put together a series of his memorable songs in Bangla and Hindi and will be performing these live on stage on karaoke tracks.
This year Anandam Association is having well known artist Ujjaini Mukherjee from Kolkata for a grand musical performance on Mahashtami – 11th October 2024, 8.00 pm onwards.
Mahanabami will also be a musical night by the band Ujaan on 12th October 2024 8.30 pm onwards.
