Pune News: Citizens Should Not Fall For Fake SMS Over Water Connection Disconnection; PCMC Issues Warning

Pimpri: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is currently disconnecting water connections of properties with overdue water bills. Official SMS notifications are being sent to citizens, urging them to clear their dues. However, fraudulent messages are circulating, falsely claiming that water connections will be cut off at 9 PM. These messages, sent under the name of “Devesh Joshi, Municipal Officer,” also instruct citizens to contact certain phone numbers.

PCMC has clarified that these messages are scams and urged citizens to ignore them.

Warning: Do Not Download Any Applications via Links in SMS!

Fraudsters are also sending WhatsApp messages urging users to download apps to “update their information.” Citizens are advised not to click on such links or install unknown applications.

Citizens Must Ignore Fraudulent SMS!

“The tax collection department has launched a campaign for water bill recovery. Official SMS are sent only from authorized PCMC numbers and systems. No requests for payment are made from random mobile numbers. Citizens should ignore such messages to prevent financial fraud.”
