Pune: A wall painted green in a lane near Dnyan Prabodhini School in Sadashiv Peth, Pune, has sparked a heated debate and heightened the city’s political atmosphere. The wall, adorned with flowers and incense sticks went viral on social media, leaving local citizens confused and outraged.

BJP MP Medha Kulkarni visited the site to investigate and subsequently painted the wall saffron, accompanied by local leaders Sangram Dhole Patil, Sanket Mehndale, Yashpal Jadhav, and Datere. Photos and videos of the incident quickly spread on social media, further fueling the controversy.

Medha Kulkarni expressed concerns over the rising incidents of similar nature in Maharashtra, including Pune. “Locally, green color is used for worship in such places and then they are expanded,” she said, appealing to the Hindu community to remain vigilant. “It is necessary to pay close attention to what is happening around us. Such things start small, but then it spreads. So we need to act in time.”

The incident has significant social and cultural implications, with many locals expressing anger and alleging hurt religious sentiments. However, some have called for maintaining social harmony, emphasizing the need for peaceful coexistence.

Medha Kulkarni took to social media to address the issue, stating, “The incident at Sadashiv Peth yesterday told me a lot. It is not right to allow such things in our locality. We have taken concrete action and painted saffron. This is not just a matter of color, but a matter of preserving the dignity of our culture.”
