Pune News: Five, Including Nepali Nationals, Nabbed In Share Market Scam Using Fake Accounts And SIM Cards
Pune Cyber Police have uncovered an international syndicate involved in defrauding individuals under the guise of share market trading. The police arrested five individuals, including two Nepali nationals, for their role in the scheme. The gang facilitated the transfer of fraudulent funds by providing bank accounts and SIM cards for the transactions.
The scam came to light when a city resident was lured into a fraudulent online share trading scheme promising high profits. Agents of a company, using the names ‘Divya Agarwal’ and ‘Ashok Reddy,’ contacted the individual via phone calls and WhatsApp messages, urging them to download an app using a link. They convinced the person to invest in various company shares and IPOs, ultimately defrauding them of ₹60.2 lakh. Upon realizing the scam, the victim filed a complaint with the Cyber Police.
Further investigation revealed that ₹14.3 lakh of the defrauded amount was transferred to an account with AU Small Finance Bank, linked to a company in Shivne. The police arrested Aniket Prashant Bhadale, the company director, and discovered additional accomplices involved in the scheme.
A significant haul was recovered from the gang, including 10 mobile phones, 10 pen drives, bank swipe machines, laptops, debit cards, SIM cards, and blank cheques. The case is being investigated under the guidance of the city’s financial and cyber crime un
