Wanowrie: Incomplete drainage work at Samvidhan Chowk and Jagtap Chowk near Sacred World Mall has become a major inconvenience for residents and commuters in Wanowrie. The ongoing project, which has now been stalled for over 10 days, has left large portions of the road dug up and barricaded inadequately, posing both safety and traffic hazards.

According to local residents, a stretch of nearly 15 to 20 feet outside Sacred World Mall has been dug up for drainage line installation. However, with no visible progress or on-site workers in the past week and a half, the area remains congested and hazardous. The absence of proper security measures, barricades, and signages has added to the risk, especially for pedestrians and two-wheeler riders navigating the narrow and uneven lanes.

“This is a busy route, and with the road dug up and no work happening, traffic snarls have become the norm. It’s extremely unsafe and frustrating,” said a resident of a nearby society.

Citizens are now demanding that the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) or the contractor responsible resume and complete the work at the earliest. Many have raised concerns that if left unattended, the open trench could lead to accidents, especially during the upcoming monsoon season.

Residents have also called upon local authorities to ensure strict monitoring of civic projects and avoid such prolonged disruptions in public spaces. They hope the civic body will act swiftly to ease their daily commuting woes.
