Pune News: Khadki Railway Underpass Widening To Ease Traffic, Completion Set For One Year: BJP MLA Siddharth Shirole
Pune, January 28, 2025 – The long-awaited widening of the Khadki Railway Underpass near Khadki Police Station on the Old Pune-Mumbai Highway is set to be completed within a year, according to BJP MLA Siddharth Shirole. The announcement followed a meeting between Shirole and Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Kumar Verma on Monday.
Key Details of the Project
The project aims to double the current capacity of the underpass to alleviate traffic congestion for commuters traveling to and from Aundh, Bopodi, and surrounding areas. Sharing the update on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Shirole stated that the final plans for the project would be ready by February 15. Following approvals, construction is expected to conclude within six months, marking a significant improvement in regional traffic management.

Enhanced Connectivity
“The upgraded underpass will offer a dedicated and streamlined route for vehicles, reducing bottlenecks and improving connectivity,” Shirole explained. “This is an important milestone for infrastructure development in Khadki and nearby regions. I look forward to its timely completion and the positive impact it will bring to residents and commuters alike,” he added.
The meeting saw the participation of key stakeholders, including Khadki Cantonment Board CEO Meenakshi Lohia, PMC Executive Engineer Shrikant Gaikwad, Deputy Engineer Hemant Jagtap and Railway Consultant Sudhir Patil.
This collaborative effort underscores the commitment to resolving traffic challenges and enhancing infrastructure for Pune’s growing urban demands.
