Pune News: PCMC To Form Special Team For Rapid Pothole Repairs On City Roads
Shekhar Singh, the Commissioner and Administrator, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has instructed regional offices to urgently repair all identified potholes across the city’s roads. This directive comes as Pimpri-Chinchwad faces continuous heavy rainfall, leading to complaints of potholes, waterlogging, and debris accumulation on roads.
Commissioner Singh has mandated the formation of dedicated teams at all municipal regional offices to address the pothole issue. Regional officers and executive engineers are required to inspect their respective areas, fill the potholes, and ensure proper drainage to prevent waterlogging. The public has been urged to cooperate with these efforts.
City Engineer Makarand Nikam has also warned that any illegal activities, such as dumping construction materials, littering, or unauthorized excavation on roads, will result in penal action.
Due to ongoing rainfall in the dam catchment areas, water is being released from the dams, causing river levels in the city to rise. Residents living near riverbanks are advised to remain vigilant. The municipal corporation has activated emergency response systems across all regional offices, and residents can call 020-67331111 / 020-28331111 for assistance during emergencies.
