Pune News: Pimpri RTO Urges School Transport Operators To Enforce Safety Norms; CCTV, Female Attendants Made Mandatory
Pimpri Chinchwad, July 3, 2025 – Pimpri Chinchwad’s Deputy Regional Transport Officer Rahul Jadhav has appealed to school bus drivers, owners, school bus associations, schools, and citizens to strictly adhere to the safety guidelines issued for vehicles transporting students.
The directives were issued during a meeting of the District School Bus Safety Committee, chaired by Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, held at the Commissioner’s office on June 11. The committee emphasized the need for strict compliance with the guidelines to ensure the safety of children commuting to and from school.
As part of the directives:
CCTV cameras must be installed in all school buses and transport vehicles by July 31, 2025.
A female attendant must be appointed in school buses transporting children under six years of age. It will also be mandatory for vehicles transporting girl students to have a female staff member onboard.
Police verification of drivers, conductors, and cleaners is compulsory, and schools must ensure annual eye check-up certificates for all drivers. Drivers without valid eye test certificates will not be permitted to operate school transport vehicles.
RTO Jadhav stated in the press release that the responsibility for implementing these measures lies with school managements, the school transport committee, and the Student Safety and Physical Facilities Development Committee to ensure compliance.
