Pune – For the past three days, residents of Puneville society in Punawale have been grappling with an alarming sanitation issue, as untreated drainage water continues to flow right outside their premises. Despite registering a complaint through the Sarathi app and a visit from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) officials, there has been no concrete action to resolve the issue, say residents.

A resident expressed frustration, pointing out that even after the PCMC’s visit, the situation remains unchanged. “We are clueless how other societies outside Puneville are using our STP (Sewage Treatment Plant). It was designed exclusively for our society,” the resident said.

Puneville houses over 3,000 residents who are now facing severe inconvenience and potential health risks due to the stagnating wastewater. Locals allege that the existing STP is overloaded, being used beyond its sanctioned capacity. They demand accountability from both the builder and the PCMC authorities who approved the infrastructure plans.

“The STP was never meant to cater to more than our society’s load. If such illegal connections are being used, it is a serious lapse on the part of both the builder and the sanctioning bodies,” a concerned resident added.

With monsoon around the corner, the residents fear the situation could worsen, turning the area into a breeding ground for diseases and making daily life unbearable. They urge the authorities to take immediate corrective action before the situation spirals out of control.
