Pune News: Severe Traffic Jam At Tathawade Underpass Causes Distress Among School StudentsÂ
Pune: A massive traffic jam near the 10th board exam center in Ashok Nagar, Tathawade, caused anxiety among students and parents on Monday morning. The congestion, which lasted for nearly 20 minutes, occurred near the Tathawade underpass on the Pune-Bangalore Highway, leaving vehicles at a standstill.
Adding to the chaos, a 4 to 6-inch obstruction in the middle of the lane further worsened the situation, making it difficult for vehicles to move smoothly. Concerned citizens tried reaching out to the authorities by dialing emergency numbers, but faced challenges, with some lines being unreachable and others redirecting them to different contacts.
Finally, after 15-20 minutes of gridlock, traffic police arrived at the scene and took control of the situation, helping ease the congestion. However, the incident raised concerns about the need for better traffic management near crucial exam centers to prevent unnecessary stress for students and parents.
With board exams being a critical time for students, commuters and authorities alike are urging for improved road conditions and a proactive approach to managing traffic bottlenecks, especially in high-traffic zones like Tathawade.
When Pune Pulse spoke to Sunil Pinjan, Sr PI Wakad traffic division, he stated that the work for the height barrier may have been carried out at the underpass. The agency which was carrying out couldnt complete the work during night yesterday as the machinery was not available. But I will ensure that the students face no delay in attending their examinations.
