Pune News: Swargate Police Busts Notorious Gang; Recovers ₹1 Crore Worth Of Stolen Valuables
Pune, January 15, 2025: The Swargate Police have successfully dismantled a notorious gang involved in a series of house break-ins and thefts across Pune and nearby areas, recovering stolen goods valued at ₹1 crore.
Led by Senior Police Inspector Yuvraj Nandre, the Swargate Police team apprehended gang leader Ganesh Kathewade on January 1, 2025, following months of investigation. Kathewade confessed to committing 14 burglaries in Pune and surrounding areas. Two accomplices, Suresh Baban Pawar and Bhim Karnsingh Rajput, were also arrested.
Suresh Pawar, a vice-president of a village in Mulshi, was found in possession of two pistols and five live rounds, indicating the gang’s preparedness for armed offenses.
Recovered stolen items include 86 tolas of gold jewelry, 3.5 kg of silver, 150 diamonds, and other valuables, retrieved from various locations, including the homes of the accused and their associates.
The operation was carried out by a dedicated team of officers, including Assistant Police Inspector Rahul Kolambikar, Police Sub-Inspector Ravindra Kaspat, and numerous constables. Their meticulous efforts led to the breakthrough in cracking this high-profile case.
Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and other senior officers lauded the team’s efforts in curbing organized crime and recovering valuable assets.
