Pune News: Three Kin of NCP Leader Held for Abetting Daughter-in-Law’s Suicide in Tathawade
Pune – Three family members of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Rajendra Hagwane have been arrested for allegedly abetting the suicide of his daughter-in-law, following serious allegations of dowry harassment and domestic abuse. The incident occurred on Friday in Tathawade, and an FIR was registered on Saturday at the Bavdhan police station.
According to police, the deceased woman’s father, Anand alias Anil Kaspate (51), a resident of Wakad, filed a complaint stating that his daughter had been subjected to continuous physical and mental harassment by her husband and in-laws over dowry demands.
Based on the complaint, the woman’s husband Shashank (27), her mother-in-law Lata (50), and sister-in-law Karishma (24) were arrested. Meanwhile, NCP leader Rajendra Hagwane is currently absconding. The deceased woman’s brother-in-law, Sushil (27), has also been named in the FIR.
As per initial police findings, the woman had locked herself in a room on Friday afternoon. When she did not respond, her husband forced open the door and found her unconscious. She was rushed to a private hospital in Pimple Saudagar, where she was declared dead during treatment.
The police have registered a case under sections 80(2), 108, 115(2), 352, 351(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
