A severe traffic congestion crisis is gripping Hinjawadi, particularly in the TCS/Megapolis phase 3 area, where the entire road has been closed for Metro station construction work. The closure, which has been in place for over 1.5 years, has resulted in massive harassment for daily commuters, who are forced to endure extended delays and traffic jams.
The road closure between Megapolis Circle and Helipad Circle in both directions has caused significant inconvenience to employees working in Phase 3 companies, including Capgemini, Cognizant, KPIT, Synechron, TCS, and TechM. Commuters are forced to take a 2-kilometer detour, leading to frequent deadlocks and traffic jams. The situation is further exacerbated by vehicles entering from the wrong side at Quadron Circle, seeking a shorter route.
“I travel on this road on a daily basis and get stuck in traffic for almost half an hour every single day, just to travel one way. This is causing massive harassment for commuters like me, and the authorities must take immediate measures to reduce this traffic jam,” said a resident, who wished to remain anonymous. Many a times a 3 kilometer stretch is taking more than 30 minutes to cover.
Senior PI Prakash Gokule echoed the resident’s concerns, stating, “The current situation of this road is worst due to no substitute roads or no alternate route to travel on this particular route. We have written letters to the PWD, MIDC, and Gram Panchayat, and we have got instructions that they are also completing this at their earliest possibilities.”
The prolonged road closure has resulted in an additional 15-20 minute delay for commuters, compounding the existing congestion in Hinjewadi. The situation is becoming increasingly chaotic, with commuters urging the concerned Metro and local governing authorities to address the issue promptly and find a solution to restore the road connectivity.
