Pune News: Undri Residents Struggle As Debris Blocks Narrow Roads, Demand PMC Action
Even weeks after the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) carried out a demolition drive, the debris near Palace Orchard Chowk in Undri remains uncleared. The unattended rubble has become a major inconvenience for local residents, who are already grappling with narrow roads and frequent congestion.
The demolition, aimed at removing encroachments, was expected to ease traffic flow, but the leftover debris has only worsened the situation. Residents complain that the existing roads are already too narrow to handle the growing vehicular movement, and the unremoved rubble further reduces available space, making daily commuting a challenge.
Locals are now urging PMC to take immediate action, not just to clear the debris but also to widen the road stretch from Gagan Ela to Marvel Sangria. They have also demanded that the civic body acquire and resurface the land near Palace Orchard Chowk to improve accessibility and ease traffic congestion.
“The roads in this area were already in poor condition, and now, with the rubble left behind, it’s become even more difficult to navigate. PMC needs to complete the job they started,” said a frustrated resident.
It’s been a year almost that the PMC got the space near Palace Orchard cleared by removing the builders office space but hasn’t initiated any action on the space. There are atleast 4 major Schools on the road and the volume of vehicles passing through this road is too high.
Despite repeated complaints, no action has been taken to clear the debris, leaving residents questioning the efficiency of the civic administration. They are now calling for swift measures to not only clean up the mess but also ensure long-term solutions to the persistent traffic woes in the area.
