Pune News: Wakad Housing Societies Members Present Key Civic Demands To Chinchwad MLA
Pune: The residents of Wakad housing societies organized a grand felicitation ceremony for Chinchwad MLA Shankar Jagtap, recognizing his efforts in addressing local civic issues. The event, hosted by the Wakad Residents Development and Welfare Association, highlighted key demands and developmental proposals for the area.
Agenda and Key Demands:
- MLA Felicitation:Â Acknowledging his historic victory and swift action on the long-pending Wakad Datta Mandir road widening issue within a month of taking office.
- Road Infrastructure: Submission of a request to add an additional driving/parking lane on Wakad Datta Mandir road, naming Shonest Tower Road as ‘Shri Ram Path,’ and reopening a blocked road near Shonest Tower for better connectivity to Phoenix Mall and the national highway.
- Environmental and Civic Improvements:Â A proposal for extensive tree plantation along Wakad Datta Mandir road and requests for uninterrupted water supply from the Kalewadi Phata PCMC water tank.
- Public Utility Enhancements:Â Requests for solar lamp distribution, streamlining MLA fund allocation for housing societies, and repairing Moshi RTO office.
- State-Level Advocacy:Â MLA Jagtap informed residents about key issues raised in the Maharashtra Assembly, including inaction by MPCB on Pawan River pollution and a corruption inquiry into the Butterfly Bridge project in Chinchwad.
Interactive Session with Residents
Following the felicitation, residents engaged in a dialogue with the MLA, expressing satisfaction over his prompt response to civic concerns. Several residents submitted letters highlighting individual society issues, to which Jagtap assured timely resolutions.
MLA Jagtap also announced the launch of the ‘MLA at Your Doorstep’ initiative in Wakad by the end of March or early April 2025 to facilitate direct citizen engagement.
The event was hosted by Sachin Londhe & Tejaswini Sawai on behalf of the Wakad Residents Development and Welfare Association, with support from various housing societies. PCMC ex-corporator Vinayak Gaikwad and several prominent society members, including Kiran Panvalkar, Chinmay Kavi, Rohit Sawant, Akul Patel, Pranay Gandhi, Ashwin Pandya, and Prajwal Zende, actively participated.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks, marking a collaborative effort toward the development of Wakad’s infrastructure and civic amenities.
