Pune: NIBM Road Residents Fume Over Abandoned Drainage Pipes Blocking Road And Damaging Vehicles
Pune, July 19, 2025: Residents living near Anandpur Charitable Trust Road, particularly from Ashwini Classic and Nivedita Garden Condominium, are expressing frustration over drainage pipes left unattended on the roadside for weeks. These unused pipes are not only damaging vehicles but also eating into the carriageway, resulting in severe traffic congestion in the area.
Local residents told Pune Pulse that the situation is causing unnecessary hardships. “These pipes have been lying here for a long time. They are scratching and damaging our vehicles, especially two-wheelers, as there is little space left to maneuver. The narrowed road is forcing us to drive dangerously close to parked vehicles and walls. We don’t even know why they are kept here if no work is happening,” said one resident.
Another commuter added, “During peak hours, the congestion becomes unbearable. The road is already narrow, and these pipes have made it worse. If they are meant for development work, why is there no progress? Otherwise, they should be removed immediately.”
When Pune Pulse reached out to the Pune Municipal Corporation’s drainage department for clarification, officials confirmed that there is currently no planned drainage work in the vicinity. “We are not aware of any ongoing or upcoming project for this road at this moment,” a PMC official said.
Residents are demanding swift action from civic authorities to either start the proposed work immediately or remove the pipes to restore smooth traffic flow and prevent further inconvenience.
