Pune: No Entry for Politicians In Lotus Nandanvan Society In Moshi Until PCMC Resolves Water Crisis
Pimpri Chinchwad, September 16, 2025: Residents of Lotus Nandanvan Society in Moshi-Gaikwad Vasti have taken an aggressive stand against the long-standing water crisis, declaring that no political leader or party representative will be allowed to campaign inside the society during elections unless their water supply issue is resolved.
Despite heavy rainfall and overflowing dams, the society has been forced to purchase four to five water tankers daily. Residents allege that the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Water Supply Department’s poor planning and mismanagement have left them struggling for a basic necessity for the past five years.
Repeated complaints to the civic body have gone unanswered. Following a grievance filed with the Chikhali-Moshi-Chikhali Housing Society Federation, its president, Sanjeevan Sangle, along with PCMC Junior Engineer Chetan Devre, visited the society and inspected the water crisis first-hand. Devre assured residents that adequate water supply would be restored within two to three days as per norms.
However, society members remain skeptical, pointing out that local leaders have only made promises in the past without delivering solutions. At a recent meeting, residents, especially women, expressed anger over the continued crisis. It was decided that if the issue is not resolved within the next four to five days, the Federation, along with women residents, will launch a Handa Morcha (empty pot protest) against the municipal corporation.
“It is tragic that while Pimpri Chinchwad is being developed as a Smart City, some societies still have to buy water tankers even in the monsoon. If the Lotus Nandanvan Society’s water problem is not resolved within the next few days, we will lead a Handa Morcha against the PCMC. Furthermore, no political leader or party worker will be allowed to campaign in the society during future elections,” said Sanjeevan Sangle, President of the Chikhali-Moshi-Chikhali-Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Society Federation.
