Pune, August 6, 2025: Salunke Vihar Road is fast turning into a traffic nightmare, with illegal parking, indisciplined motorists, and rampant violations choking daily life for thousands of residents. What was once a peaceful residential stretch is now overwhelmed by an unchecked rise in traffic and blatant misuse of public roads for private parking.

Residents are furious over the uncontrolled chaos between Badhai Sweets and Oxford Village. Vehicles are parked recklessly on both sides of the road, narrowing the carriageway and making commuting a frustrating experience. The stretch near Clover Citadel, Oxford Village, Salunke Vihar Society, and Maestros has become a free-for-all parking zone due to the utter lack of enforcement.

A delegation led by Wanowrie’s ex Corporator BJP’s Kalinda Punde submitted a formal complaint to Wanawadi Traffic Police Inspector Dilip Phulpagare. BJP Pune City General Secretary Adv. Mahesh Punde personally explained the residents’ plight and demanded immediate enforcement. Residents of Clover Citadel, Oxford Village and Maestros Apartments have written a letter to the Wanawadi traffic police urging them to take stern action and bring relief to the residents.

The newly opened commercial establishments and malls, particularly One Place Mall, are reportedly refusing to let visitors use their designated parking spaces, pushing all the traffic load onto the public road. “If these malls don’t want to provide parking, they should not be allowed to operate,” said one resident angrily.

Another resident highlighted the worsening situation outside Clover Citadel. “Both sides of the road are packed with cars. The police must start issuing heavy fines to violators before this gets completely out of hand.”

Maestros residents echoed similar concerns, saying that both entry and exit gates are blocked most of the day. “There’s a constant traffic jam. Even emergency vehicles and ambulances heading to the nearby hospital are getting stuck. If a critical case is delayed, who will be responsible?” questioned a worried resident. School buses parked on the road during pickup and drop hours further aggravate the congestion.

Fed up with the inaction, the residents have taken the issue to the authorities.

Dilip Phulpagare, Senior PI, Wanawadi Traffic Division when contacted that a site visit would be conducted soon to understand the exact root cause of the issue to draw an action plan.

Residents have made one thing clear — enough is enough. They want swift action, strict fines, and towing of vehicles that break the law. The time for warnings is over.
