Pune, August 4, 2025: A major incident occurred on Sinhagad Road near Nanded City when three workers were trapped under a heap of soil while drainage line work was underway. The mishap took place when a section of the trench collapsed suddenly, burying the workers under loose soil.
Emergency services from Pune Fire Brigade, PMRDA, and the PDRF (Pune Disaster Response Force) rushed to the site as soon as they were alerted.
So far, one worker has been successfully rescued and is reported to be safe. However, rescue efforts are still ongoing for the remaining two workers, who remain trapped.
Authorities are using specialized equipment to clear the debris carefully, ensuring no further harm comes to the trapped individuals. The incident has raised serious concerns over safety protocols being followed at infrastructure project sites. An investigation is likely to follow to determine the cause of the collapse.
