Pune: Over 11,000 Puneites Chant Navkar Mahamantra for World Peace at Grand JITO Event
JITO organizes mass chanting event transcending caste and religion; PM Narendra Modi participates from Delhi

Pune, April 9: In a grand and spiritually charged event, over 11,000 residents of Pune gathered today at S.P. College ground for the collective chanting of the Navkar Mahamantra, organized by the Jain International Trade Organization (JITO), Pune chapter. The event was held to mark the World Navkar Mahamantra Day and aimed at promoting world peace and universal welfare beyond the barriers of caste, religion, and sect.
The chanting, which began at 7:02 AM and concluded at 9:36 AM, was part of a global initiative involving participants from 108 countries. Thousands dressed in traditional attire joined with devotion, and the air was filled with chants of “Vande Navkaram” and “Jai Jinendra.”
A ceremonial shankhnaad (conch blowing) by the Darda family marked the beginning of the session.
At the central event held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also participated in the chanting. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized the spiritual significance of the Navkar Mahamantra, stating, “This mantra is not just a chant, but the very essence of faith and life. The collective energy generated through this synchronized global recitation is truly remarkable.”
The Prime Minister further urged citizens to adopt nine resolutions inspired by the nine elements of the mantra:
- Water conservation
- Tree plantation and preservation
- Cleanliness
- Promotion of indigenous products
- Exploring the nation (domestic tourism)
- Organic farming
- Healthy lifestyle
- Importance of yoga and sports
- Helping the underprivileged
Pune’s own young artist Vishal Choradia led the chanting with tabla accompaniment by Shiv Vishal Choradia. Devotional compositions explaining the mantra’s significance were presented by Vinit Ghemavat, while Sachin Ingle and team added a unique dimension through group recitation.
Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol, who was present on the occasion, addressed the audience with a rousing “Jai Jinendra” and praised the spiritual fervor of the Pune participants. “This sacred mantra, composed of just 68 letters, pays homage to the supreme spiritual beings of the universe. Puneites have set an example by rising above caste and creed for the greater good,” he said.

In his welcome speech, Dinesh Oswal noted that the program was supported by various political and social organizations. Indrakumar Chhajed, Chairman of JITO, highlighted the global reach of the event, adding, “Simultaneous chanting across multiple countries has created an atmosphere of positive energy conducive to peace and well-being.”
The event was smoothly anchored by Laxmikant Khabia. Key contributors to the program’s success included Indrakumar Chhajed, Dinesh Oswal, Laxmikant Khabia, Pravin Chorbale, Abhijit Dungarwal, Vishal Choradia, and Achal Jain.
