Pune: Over 13 Lakh Maharashtra Students Yet To Complete Aadhaar Verification, Special Camps Planned
Pune, September 8, 2025: Despite steady progress in Aadhaar authentication, over 13 lakh school students in Maharashtra are yet to complete the process, according to the state school education department.
Out of 2.04 crore enrolled students, 93.51% (1.91 crore) have successfully validated their Aadhaar details with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). However, 6.49%—about 13 lakh students—still face verification issues due to discrepancies or invalid details.
The breakdown of pending cases shows:
- 5,27,602 students do not have Aadhaar cards,
- 63,009 students’ verification is pending, and
- 7,37,485 Aadhaar numbers have been flagged as invalid because of mismatched data.
To resolve these issues, the state government, in coordination with UIDAI, will soon launch special Aadhaar verification camps across Maharashtra.
A senior official said, “Aadhaar updates are crucial for students preparing for competitive exams such as NEET, JEE, and CUET, as discrepancies can cause registration hurdles.”
As part of its 100-day action plan, the government has instructed regional education officials to prioritize Aadhaar verification. Currently, 816 enrollment kits with two machines each have been deployed at cluster resource centers to speed up the process.
