Pune: Over 31,700 Documents Registered Through E-Registration In Five Years: IGR Ravindra Binawade
Pune, October 2, 2025: The e-registration system has made the document registration process more transparent, secure, and convenient, and has been successfully implemented for the past five years. So far, a total of 31,785 documents have been registered under this system, informed Inspector General of Registration and Controller of Stamps, Ravindra Binawade.
He was speaking at a meeting held in Pune on e-registration and e-SBTR (Simplified, Secure Stamp Duty Payment system), organized by the Registration and Stamps Department. The meeting was attended by Deputy Inspector General of Registration (Headquarters) Udayraj Chavan, other departmental officials, and representatives of various banks.
Binwade stated that since 2020–21, citizens have been able to execute property sale agreements online without visiting registration offices. The initiative has been implemented under provisions of the Registration Act, 1908, and the Maharashtra E-Registration Rules, 2013.
Highlighting the benefits of e-SBTR, introduced in 2024, Binwade said it provides a safe and legal option for stamp duty payment, eliminating duplication and malpractices. “No irregularities have been reported in e-SBTR so far, which makes it a trustworthy system,” he added.
He also clarified that documents printed on e-SBTR, digitally signed, and registered through e-registration should be accepted by banks as original documents for loan or other official purposes.
