Pune: Over 9,500 Vehicles Registered On Dussehra, EV Sales Cross 800 Mark
Pune, September 30, 2025: On the auspicious occasion of Dussehra, one of the sade-teen muhurat (most auspicious times of the year), Pune witnessed a massive wave of vehicle purchases. According to Pune RTO records, a total of 9,531 vehicles were registered this year during the festive period.
Two-wheelers dominated the market with 5,438 new registrations, followed by 2,554 cars. The electric vehicle segment also saw remarkable demand, with 814 purchases—including 679 two-wheelers, 116 cars, 7 goods vehicles, 4 rickshaws, and 8 taxis.
Between September 21 and 29, Punekars bought 8,717 fuel-based vehicles and 814 electric ones. As per tradition, vehicle showrooms were abuzz with customers booking their preferred models in advance and performing special puja before taking delivery on Dussehra day.
The Pune RTO staff worked tirelessly to ensure timely registration, enabling citizens to take their vehicles home during the festival. “We are making every effort to complete registrations quickly so that people can take delivery on the auspicious day,” said Swapnil Bhosale, Deputy Regional Transport Officer, Pune.
Other vehicle purchases included 69 rickshaws, 361 goods carriers, 17 buses, 191 tourist taxis, and 87 other vehicles, reflecting the festive spirit across all segments.
