Pune, June 18, 2025: The sacred Ashadhi Wari Palkhi processions of Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj will pass through Pune city between June 20 and June 23, drawing lakhs of Warkaris and devotees from across Maharashtra. To ensure smooth movement and safety, the Pune City Police, Traffic Department, and various government agencies have finalized a detailed plan covering traffic, law enforcement, and public amenities.

Palkhi Schedule in Pune

  • June 20, 2025: Entry of both Sant Tukaram and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhis into Pune city
  • June 23, 2025: Departure of both Palkhis from Pune toward Pandharpur

Traffic Regulations and Diversions

To manage the massive footfall and ensure orderly procession:

  • Traffic curbs will be in place from 10 PM on June 19 to 11 PM on June 23
  • Over 28 key traffic diversion points have been announced
  • Alternative routes will be provided for vehicles entering and exiting Pune
  • Palkhi Route Coverage:
    • Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi: 38 km within Pune
    • Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi: 230 km total journey

Public Appeal by Pune Traffic Police

Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police, Amol Zende, has urged citizens to:

  • Avoid Palkhi routes unless essential
  • Use designated alternate roads
  • Comply with traffic and safety advisories
  • Note: Private vehicles (excluding emergency services) will be restricted on Palkhi routes during the procession

Information boards, police booths, and help centers will be stationed across major intersections for public guidance.
