Pune: PCMC To Act Against 34,000 Property Owners Who’ve Never Paid Tax
Pimpri, July 24, 2025: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is set to take strict action against residential and commercial property owners with long-pending tax dues. Out of the 7.31 lakh properties registered in the city, 4.26 lakh owners have paid their property tax for the current financial year. However, 34,022 property owners have never paid property tax to date, and the civic body plans to initiate tough measures against them, according to Avinash Shinde, Assistant Commissioner, Taxation and Collection Department.
In the first quarter of this financial year, the PCMC collected a record ₹522 crore in property tax. The annual target for FY 2025–26 is ₹1,300 crore, with collection efforts ongoing across all 18 ward offices.
Outstanding Dues Snapshot:
- Property owners with dues over ₹50,000: 28,518
- Properties with dues over ₹1 lakh: 9,147
- Commercial properties with dues exceeding ₹5 lakh: 875
Notices Issued To Defaulters:
Defaulters have already been issued notices along with their property bills. Despite repeated reminders, those avoiding payments will now face firm action. PCMC has warned that non-payment may lead to property seizure. A staggering ₹310 crore is owed by 1,12,809 residential property owners. For defaulters who haven’t paid taxes for over 5 or 10 years, the PCMC will begin confiscating movable assets such as cars, TVs, refrigerators, and other expensive household items.
4% Online Payment Discount:
PCMC has announced a 4% rebate on general tax for those who pay their property tax online between July 1 and September 30, 2025. The civic body has urged all pending taxpayers to clear their dues and avail the benefit. Citizens are encouraged to link their mobile numbers and email IDs with their property bills to access online services easily.
“Many citizens have responded positively to PCMC’s tax drive, but some have never paid property tax even once. Strict action is now unavoidable against such defaulters, especially those pending for over a decade.”
– Pradeep Jambhale Patil, Additional Commissioner, PCMC
“We’ve set a ₹1,300 crore target for this year. Citizens should take advantage of the 4% discount by paying online. Linking mobile numbers and emails with bills will ensure smooth, home-based services.”
– Avinash Shinde, Assistant Commissioner, PCMC
