Pune: Pimpri-Chinchwad Housing Societies Warn Of Entering Poll Fray If Parties Fail To Field Deserving Candidates
Pimpri-Chinchwad, October 13, 2025: In a strong and unprecedented move, the Chikhali-Moshi-Chikhali-Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Society Federation has unanimously resolved that if political parties fail to nominate capable, ethical, and competent candidates for the upcoming Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) elections, the federation will field its own candidates.
This historic resolution was passed during a brainstorming session held at the Aishwaryam Banquet Hall in Borhade Wadi, which witnessed the participation of around 2,000 representatives.
The meeting emphasized the need for active participation of housing society members in the functioning of the municipal corporation.

Speaking at the event, Sanjivan Sangle, President of the Society Federation, stated,
“Although our organization is non-political, nearly 90% of city residents are housing society members who wish to contribute to the city’s development. We will soon conduct public consultation drives across various societies to gather opinions, and only then take a final decision on contesting the elections.”
Key Points Discussed in the Meeting:
Despite being one of the leading municipal corporations in Asia, PCMC has not been effectively utilizing its financial resources for city development. Participants noted that housing society residents have little say in the city’s decision-making process. The meeting strongly advocated for the inclusion of society representatives in urban planning, policy formulation, and infrastructure development.
Several members voiced that the federation should move beyond being a mere observer and actively participate in the elections. To this end, a series of consultation drives will soon be organized across cooperative housing societies in Chikhli, Moshi, Charholi, and neighboring areas. These discussions will help determine the collective public opinion and the federation’s next course of action.
Sanjivan Sangale, President of the Chikhali-Moshi-Charholi-Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Society Federation, said:
“Our federation, though non-political, works with a strong sense of social responsibility. We aim for 90% of housing society members to have a direct role in the city’s planning and development. We will not rush into any decision regarding the elections. After detailed public consultations, we will decide our next steps. However, if political parties fail to put forward capable and honest candidates, we are fully prepared to contest the elections ourselves.”
